GROUPS

Connection & Community

We’re hard-wired for connection, but it can feel harder than ever to actually find it. Kindred is on a mission to embrace people with the inclusive love of Jesus and help them take their next steps in faith. Check out our offerings below. We hope you’ll get connected, feel the love, and find your next step.

Small Groups

  • Small Groups are committed groups of about 12 people who gather weekly for Bible-focused discussion (usually involving the sermon theme from the previous Sunday), intentional relationship-building, and prayer.
  • The goals are to grow in our knowledge and love of God and to practice knowing and loving our neighbors, spiritual priorities that Jesus named as the most important (Matthew 22, Mark 12).
  • Kindred Small Groups are closed during each semester, meaning that after the registration deadline, the groups will not receive new members until the start of the next semester. This structure is intended to foster consistent participation and deeper relational connection.
  • Join a Small Group if you want a weekly space to discuss Scripture, reflect on life, and pray with a consistent community; if you want to form meaningful friendships with others from Kindred; and if you can commit to consistent weekly participation through an entire semester.

We’re an inclusive United Methodist community and an LGBTQ+ affirming church.

Social Groups

  • Social Groups are open groups that meet occasionally for connection around a shared interest, hobby, or experience. They provide opportunities for fun, casual connections with others from Kindred.
  • These groups are organized and led by volunteers from the Kindred community. Different groups have different meeting times, durations, and frequencies as determined by each Social Group leader.
  • Get involved with a Social Group if you want a low-commitment way to meet and connect with others from Kindred, to bond with others over a shared interest or experience, or you want a space to gather with Kindred friends who may not be in your Small Group.

Studies

  • Studies are one-off events and short-term studies focused on specific biblical and/or theological topics. Their primary purpose is to provide space for learning and reflection.
  • We plan to host a few Studies each semester.
  • Sign up for a Study if you want to explore Scripture and the Christian faith with others from Kindred, you want to engage your faith intellectually, or if you have an interest in a topic that a given Study is going to address
  • Keep an eye on our weekly newsletter for the latest on more Studies we’ll be offering soon. Subscribe to our newsletter here.
